SME Advisory Board
San Telmo Business School
Purpose
The strategic reflection forum for business owners who want to build stronger SMEs and anticipate the challenges ahead.
The SME Advisory Board brings together owners and senior executives of leading companies to identify the present and future challenges of small and medium-sized enterprises and, from them, guide San Telmo Business School’s lines of research and academic development.
It is a space of trust and contrast among business owners, designed to share experience and analyse decisions in an increasingly demanding global environment. Its mission is to develop and share knowledge that helps make SMEs in Spain better and raises the quality of their management and governance.
Objectives
To create a community of strategic thinking around SMEs and promote the exchange of experience and business.
To identify the most relevant lines of research according to the moment, size and environment of small and medium-sized enterprises.
To design specialized learning activities that respond to the real challenges facing SME leaders.
To drive collaboration among companies, entities and organizations linked to the SME ecosystem.
To make visible the commitment to the development, continuity and sustainability of SMEs.
The Board organizes its research agenda around four major areas covering the main decisions that shape the consolidation, professionalization and growth of an SME.
It analyses the foundations that make the business competitive: the value proposition, people management, innovation, finance and the professionalization processes needed to sustain growth.
Development and growth
It studies how to prepare the company’s next stage through lifelong learning, new forms of growth, diagnostic systems and a business strategy capable of turning opportunities into sustainable development.
Structure
It addresses the internal architecture that makes it possible to execute the strategy: management processes, the definition of responsibilities and organization charts, and information and control systems suited to the company’s size and complexity.
Governance
It delves into the decisions that ensure continuity and good governance: execution and control, wealth and taxation, corporate sustainability, compliance and mechanisms to order the relationship between ownership, governance and management.
Who sits on the Board?
