Sustainability and competitiveness
San Telmo Business School
Purpose
Sustainability and competitiveness are two sides of the same coin.
A company’s capacity to endure can no longer be separated from the way it integrates environmental, social and good governance challenges into its decisions. Sustainability thus ceases to be a purely reputational matter and becomes a dimension of strategy, management and competitiveness.
The Chair of Sustainability and Competitiveness was created in 2022, in keeping with San Telmo Business School’s mission of contributing to the economic and business development of society, to help business owners and executives turn sustainability into concrete decisions and practices that strengthen their organizations over the long term.
Its mission is to raise awareness and develop ethical capabilities in the business community, generating knowledge and spaces for reflection that make it possible to integrate sustainability into the everyday reality of the company.
The Chair organizes its activity around three complementary areas —research, training and dissemination— to carry ESG principles from the conceptual debate through to business decision-making.
Research turns sustainability challenges into knowledge applicable to management. The Chair promotes the writing of business cases, technical notes and publications that make it possible to analyze rigorously how environmental, social and governance criteria are integrated into strategy and management.
Learning activities
Meetings, case presentations, round tables, seminars and workshops bring that knowledge to business owners and executives. The aim is to contrast experiences and develop criteria that help operationalize sustainability in concrete decisions.
Dissemination and networking
The Chair aspires to be a leading forum for the business debate on sustainability and competitiveness, connecting companies and experts and bringing academic rigor to the public conversation through proven experiences and case studies.
The Advisory Board: join the leaders of change
The Advisory Board brings together leading companies that share the will to advance the integration of sustainability into business strategy. Their participation provides guidance for the Chair’s lines of work, practical knowledge, business relationships and resources to drive research and activities.
Sponsoring and partner organizations
The Chair’s activity is possible thanks to the commitment of its sponsors and partner companies, including leading organizations such as Ecoembes, IKEA, AstraZeneca and Santander, which help drive research and the exchange of experiences.
Joining this ecosystem makes the company’s commitment visible, strengthens its positioning, provides access to high-level executive networking and offers priority participation in projects and case studies that connect business experience with San Telmo’s research.
