Digital Transformation

Technology in the service of strategy

Turning technological transformation into business decisions

Technological transformation creates an advantage only when senior management turns it into a business decision.

San Telmo approaches digital transformation from the perspective of those who govern and lead companies: which technologies matter, how they affect the business model, what capabilities the organization needs, and how to turn them into growth, efficiency and new opportunities. This area of expertise brings together research, cases, executive education and ongoing dialogue with companies leading the change.

AI, data, cybersecurity and new business models

This area of expertise evolves alongside business needs: artificial intelligence for senior management, data-driven decision-making, process automation, cybersecurity and business model innovation.

  • Organizational change management completes the agenda. The approach is deliberately executive: understand enough to ask the right questions, assess opportunities and risks, and lead transformation without handing strategy over to technology.

Research connected to business

San Telmo turns real transformation processes into knowledge that can be applied to management: cases, technical notes, company meetings and working groups.

  • This work helps identify what works, what difficulties emerge and how the role of senior management is changing.
  • The SEIDOR Chair in Digital Agenda for Senior Management, created in 2018, is one of the main platforms supporting this activity. It connects the School with companies and experts, guides research priorities and creates forums for reflection on the technological challenges reaching the executive agenda.

Executive education to lead transformation: ideAD

ideAD is the management development program specifically linked to this area of expertise. It is designed to help business owners and senior executives understand the impact of technological transformation, integrate digitalization into strategy and lead the changes required to remain competitive.

Digital transformation also cuts across other San Telmo programs because technology is no longer separate from management: it is part of decisions about business, operations, people, customers and governance.

From technology to executive decision-making

The challenge is not to follow every new technology, but to interpret which changes matter to the company and decide how to respond. San Telmo structures this reflection around four complementary perspectives:

Anticipation

Read the signals of change before they become urgent: evolving customer expectations, new competitors, regulation, data, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Anticipation makes it possible to build capabilities before the market makes them essential.

Strategy

Digital transformation is not an isolated technology project. It affects the value proposition, operations, people, customer relationships and the economic model; that is why it belongs on the senior management agenda.

Growth and competitiveness

Data, automation, artificial intelligence and new channels can open markets, improve processes and make the organization more agile. The key is to link technology investment to specific business priorities and outcomes.

Adaptation and organizational change

There is no single digital formula that works for every company. Each organization must start from its own objectives, customers, processes and capabilities, select the right tools and manage change with people at the center.
